DIBP introduces validity period for skills assessments

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) announced that skills assessments issued by assessing authorities for visa applications will only be valid for three years, unless the skills assessing authority specified a shorter validity period.

Previously, most skills assessment did not have validity periods. According to DIBP, the default three year validity period will align with the existing three-year validity period for English Language tests.

This means that migrants with skills assessments older than three years after 1 July, who haven’t yet lodged their visa application, will need to obtain a new skills assessment in order to lodge a valid visa application under this new rule.
