Australia-Japan to tighten economic ties

Australia stands to gain from a new wave of trade and investment as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe pledged to tighten economic ties with Australia and build a stronger defence agreement to ward off threats in the region, The Australian reported.
Mr Abe, who visited Canberra in July, held out the prospect of bigger trade deals to come as he assured there would be “no limits” to the work being done to expand the relationship between the two countries. Economists and analysts believe Japan-Australia Free Trade Agreement (JAFTA) has plenty on offer for both countries, particularly in agriculture and services.
